Balinese Artists Protests Malaysia over Pendet Dance

Malaysia country that has no culture, but their wants to promote the country with stealing Bali cultural like Pendet dance from Bali Indonesia.

Balinese artist protest over Malaysia claim about Pendet Dance that used in the Visit to Malaysia ad. This is regarded as theft of cultural property of Bali.

Wayan Dibia confess surprised with the incident. “Pendet is a dance that has been played hundreds of years people of Bali,” said the former Rector of the Institut Seni Indonesia (ISI) Denpasar.

In 1961, I Wayan Beratha turn back Pendet dance with the five dancers who survive to this day. “In 1962 its modified again as mass dance with 800 dancers for the opening of the Asian Games in Jakarta,” he explained.

Protests will be facilitated by the Indonesia Council of Regional Representatives (DPD RI) for a formal protest from the state institutions in Indonesia. Member of DPD RI Bali Ida Ayu Mas said, the attitude of Malaysia can not be left. “Moreover, there have been several previous incidents,” he said.

Meanwhile DPD RI will also ask the Indonesian government to protect of cultural archipelago. For example, with the copyright of the community culture in Indonesia. The works must be regarded as property of the nation that can not be recklessly claimed other nations.
